A Busy Day

Sunday was a busy day for the #Burundi13 team. In the morning, it was the first of our commissioning services at the 10.30am service at St Mary's. We gave an explanation of the nature of the trip and then each shared (for an allocated 10-15 seconds) as to what we were looking forward to about the trip.

After the fire drill at the end of the service we then handed out free ice creams and lollies as a "thank you" to the church for supporting us. They went very quickly!

In the afternoon, we met at the Jackson's house to pack the team kit. We thought we might be over our baggage allowance, but 23kg is a lot!

We are taking a variety of equipment out to Burundi. We have science equipment for the King's School in Bujumbura and sports equipment, art resources, knitting, baby-grows, nappies, more baby-grows, nurse uniforms, lots of football shirts and a few more baby-grows to take to the projects in Gitega.

After a well-earned cuppa we ventured up the tower (yes the Jacksons have a tower!) to look at the views over Reigate and what seemed like the rest of Surrey.

Then it was back for the evening service for the second commissioning service of the day.

We are so grateful to have the blessing and support of the church behind us. People have been so generous with their money, their time, their words, their prayers and their donations of equipment and clothing. As they say in Burundi,

"Murakoze cane!"
