Virgin blogger cuts loose!

I'm not sure what has been more arduous - getting to Burundi or getting onto the blog!! Suffice it to say I'm in Burundi and now on the blog so you're going to hear what I've got to say!!

Life Lesson 1: Treat the internet as your friend, and it will be nice to you!

Well so far it's been quite an experience... we've worshipped for four and a quarter hours non-stop - something no church has ever got me to do before! It was moving... in most senses of the word! Even a normally staid worshipper such as myself managed a few timely thrusts and fist pumps!!

Life lesson 2: Loosen up a bit, and you might even find you enjoy it!!

We've had the humbling experience of visiting clinics in Bujumbura and Gitega and prayed for those in them, as well as being thanked form their hearts for being there!!

Today, for the first time we meet the young boys and girls with whom we will spent time offering games and activities over the next week. Great kids, full of life and energy and so welcoming...

It's a funny old world when those who would appear to possess so little seem so willing to share and offer of what they do have.

Life lesson 3: Learn your generosity lessons from the poorest.

And finally (for now - be warned!) A few memories from this afternoon's football with the boys... Jon R appearing to be shot before performing a swallow dive - he'd been tripped up by a tussock of grass!... Matt heading the winning goal and then celebrating with his shirt over his head - Oh Dear!

... As for me - well I showed my age and football knowledge by Umpiring - is that the right word?!?
